Theatre Evening - Le Cid by Cie Avide Vacarme
We want to perform Le Cid in the street. We want to combine two traditions: classical theatre and street theatre, to blend and intertwine them. We want the stage to bring us closer to the text. A theatre, a square, a town, a village, a garden, a meadow, a courtyard, a warehouse, a market, a train station, a factory… anywhere there’s enough space for us to set up and welcome the public.
We want to embody and un-embody the characters of Le Cid, sometimes bringing them to life through giant puppets, through rhythm, through choir… We want to perform the text, not rewrite it, only slightly adapt it to fit the form we give it, but above all, we want to hear the language with wide open eyes.
