Travelling to Noirmoutier by Car, Motorbike or Bicycle

You can reach the island of Noirmoutier via two access routes: the Noirmoutier bridge and the legendary Passage du Gois.

1) ACCESSING NOIRMOUTIER VIA THE BRIDGE

The Noirmoutier Bridge, connecting Barbâtre to the mainland at Fromentine (La Barre des Monts), is open 24/7 and free of charge.

It features a cycle lane on the west side and a pedestrian walkway on the east side.

Please note: roadworks are regularly carried out on the cycle path. When this happens, the cycle lane is closed. Cyclists may either:

use the pedestrian path, but only if they dismount and walk alongside their bike,

or ride on the main road (where the speed limit for cars is 50 km/h).

2) ACCESSING NOIRMOUTIER VIA THE PASSAGE DU GOIS

The Passage du Gois is a submersible road over 4 km long, connecting Barbâtre and Beauvoir-sur-Mer. It is only accessible at low tide.

Before taking this route, it is essential to check the tide times to plan your crossing safely.
