Eglise Saint Philbert

The Church of Saint-Philbert stands on the foundations of the former Benedictine abbey church, founded around 674 by the monk Saint-Philbert. The crypt, listed as a Historic Monument, is the only remaining part of the abbey church. It houses the empty tomb, built after Saint Philbert’s body was moved to Tournus during the Norman invasions of the 9th century.
Built at the end of the 11th century, the church features a Romanesque choir and a Gothic nave. It is situated opposite the former entrance to the castle, which is now bricked up.

Self-guided tours of the church and crypt:
From 1 November to 31 March: daily from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.
From 1 April to 31 October: daily from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm.
