Overview
The association is committed to preserving the blockhouses of the Tirpitz battery, a complex of 10 bunkers and remnants of the Atlantic Wall. This battery is now listed as 20th-century heritage and an example of outstanding contemporary architecture.
Guided tours of the R627 fire control post (an artillery observation post with armoured plating), the R501 personnel shelter (for one group) and the R502 personnel shelter (for two groups). The commentary focuses largely on local history during the Second World War.
The tour is led on a voluntary basis by our members. Free tour lasting between 1½ and 2 hours. You will have the opportunity to make a donation to our association on the day of your visit.
Individuals: no booking required for July and August, but please arrive half an hour early!
Tours take place every Tuesday and Thursday in July and August 2026.
Times:
- for the tour of the R627 + R501 + outdoor tour of the battery: 3.00 pm–4.30 pm, 4.45 pm–6.15 pm and 6.30 pm–8.00 pm.
- for the tour of the R502: 3.00 pm–5.00 pm and 5.30 pm–7.30 pm.
Groups: all groups, except those with motorised mobility aids. Minimum 10 people, maximum 20 people (up to 25 people for the tour of R502). Tours by booking only from April to the end of June and in September, outside our summer opening hours.

Annual drop-in sessions (for all enquiries) from Thursday 16 April until early October, every Thursday (except July and August) from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm at R501, rue de la Cantine.
