Musée des Traditions de l'Ile

A visit to the Noirmoutier Island Museum of Traditions offers an insight into the daily lives of the island’s inhabitants over the past few centuries. The museum’s galleries are dedicated to seafaring, salt production, reconstructions of interiors from old houses, and a rich collection of traditional costumes typical of the island. Every year, the museum hosts a new temporary exhibition, allowing you to rediscover its collections. In 2026: ‘Camaï, quichenote é cotllun baraï!’, an exhibition devoted to the traditional costumes of Noirmoutier, offering the chance to admire superb headdresses and clothing typical of the island (from 7 April to 31 October).

Open from 7 April to 31 October 2026.
From 7 April to 26 June and from 1 September to 31 October: open Tuesday to Saturday from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm.
From 29 June to 28 August: open Monday to Friday from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm and from 2.00 pm to 5.30 pm.
Closed on Sundays and public holidays (except 14 July). Closed on 1, 8 and 14 May. Closed on Saturday 15 August. Exceptionally closed on Saturday 27 June and Monday 31 August to allow for the changeover from summer to winter opening hours.
Special opening hours and guided tours are available for groups in the morning, subject to booking (except in July and August).
