Situated on a quiet street and close to the town centre (800 m), where you’ll find the pedestrianised street, the market and its market halls (open three days a week during the summer), restaurants, cafés and shops…

Mardi Gras beach (in the village of Le Viel), which is the nearest beach, is 1.8 km away. Further afield, 2.5 km away, are other beaches such as Plage des Dames (with its beach huts and jetty), Plage de l’Anse Rouge and Plage des Sableaux.

There are lovely walks all around the beaches and the town centre, including the famous Bois de la Chaize with its Mediterranean vegetation adorning Plage des Dames, the Jacobsen jetty – a nature reserve home to numerous plant and animal species – the salt marshes, and the port of L’Herbaudière… In summer, you can enjoy street performances, concerts, sailors’ festivals and other events: the calendars of festivities and events are available from the tourist office.

The best way to get around the island is on foot or by bike (bike hire is 900 metres from the house), but you can also use the Gratibus shuttle bus (two routes available near the house) which, as its name suggests, is free and will allow you to get around the island easily (every hour from 9.00 am to 8.00 pm during the summer).

The tourist tax is payable when you collect the keys.
